Managing Director
Join Mabelle Arts in a pivotal time in our growth and evolution by becoming our next Managing Director! We’re looking for a leader with 10+ years experience managing teams and driving innovation within the profound constraints and opportunities of the non-profit sector. This deeply collaborative role will work closely with the current ED and Founder to lead a team of program, operational and community staff and oversee the operations of the organization.
Who We Need
Our chosen candidate is a sophisticated, lateral and non-ideological thinker who thrives in complexity and enjoys ambiguity. You’re a people-centred culture builder with strong, demonstrated management experience and a range of performance management strategies at your fingertips. We’re looking for a decisive decision maker – someone with lots of experience making tough decisions that matter. You’re change-oriented and risk-tolerant, with a high level of self-awareness and experience coaching teams through growth and change. You have exceptional communications skills and the ability to clearly outline expectations and manage performance balanced by highly attuned listening skills. You’re fearless when it comes to giving and receiving feedback – you welcome it and offer it with compassion and grace.
You’ll bring 10+ years developing and managing a range of operational systems, with demonstrative experience related to financial management and some (but not all) of the following: strategic and operational planning, human resources, program planning and/or facilities management. You’re a systems thinker and you love creating right-sized, replicable solutions that make everyone’s jobs more manageable.

About Mabelle Arts
Through collaborative artmaking, high-quality programs, deep relationships, and bold placemaking, Mabelle Arts is building the social and cultural infrastructure that helps communities thrive. We prioritize strong artistic outcomes that honour professional artistic vision and the authentic hands and voices of community participants, because real collaboration happens when artists and community members create something together that neither could achieve alone. We stay nimble, responsive, and always ready to pivot because the best ideas often come from the most unexpected places.
Our latest adventure? The groundbreaking Mabelle Park project – Canada's first park designed BY and FOR residents of a high-density tower community. It's community co-creation at its finest, and it's just getting started. Come be part of it!
Mabelle Arts welcomes those who have demonstrated a commitment to upholding the values of equity, diversity and inclusion. People coming together across real and perceived differences is the source of our strength. Diversity of racial background, ethnicity, country of origin, ancestry, age, cultural/religious background, ability, gender, gender identity and sexuality among staff and artists strengthens our ability to collaborate with communities and effect change. We encourage applications from members of groups that have been historically disadvantaged and marginalized, particularly applicants whose lived experience reflects those of the communities we serve.
