Community Development Worker

As part of a summer youth team, the Community Development Workers will work under the leadership of the Programs Coordinator to realize a series of landscape, food security and public art creation projects on Mabelle Avenue. They will provide support for all elements of community-based programming, including outreach, one-on-one support to community participants and setting up and striking workshop space. They will also work on creative content development as a team, contributing to meetings and evaluations and tracking their own progress and growth during the project. Like all staff at Mabelle Arts they will be responsible for ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for everyone to work and play.
Key Responsibilities include:
Programming Activities
Be part of a co-creative team under the direction of the Recreational Programs
Coordinate and Lead Artists
Assist with workshop and event setup and cleanup
Providing one-on-one participant support
Assist with gardening, landscaping and maintenance of Mabelle Park
Assist with beautifying and animating Mabelle Park
Develop and realize original artworks as part of a collaborative team
Participate in and help coordinate the final showcase summer event
Respect and maintain confidentiality of program participants
Keep ongoing inventories of supplies
Ensure that the Mabelle Arts' indoor, outdoor and storage spaces remain clean and well organized

Skills & Experience Required:
Responsible, punctual, helpful and positive with a friendly and cooperative attitude

Strong team member, collaborative
Strong, mature communication skills, responsive
Communications and/or Creative Arts interests, education, training and/or experience
Leadership experience an asset
Multi-lingual an asset
Manual labour and lifting ability is an asset
