Introducing Boardman Bill’s Blog!

Well, I don’t know. These crazy arts people are at it again. They want me to write a blog for their new web site and I haven’t even seen it yet. Typical! Nevertheless, I will try to put a bit of sanity into this enterprise, this barrel of monkeys.

Speaking of monkeys, I can’t even remember how it started, but I have an ongoing relationship with Shirley that revolves around monkeys (she likes to draw cats). Shirley is one of our sweetest participants in the many projects that are going on with this bunch. I make sure to ask her whether she’s had any bananas that day to which she gives me her monkey-typical underarm scratch. Today, I had some ice-cream in her honour, “chunky monkey” of course.

Joy is another of our long-time participants. She often asks me to draw something for her because she says she can’t draw. But Joy has an impressive background and hides a lot. She has drawn some exquisite angels that are better than anything I have drawn. Although she can be a bit possessive (over me).

Of course, our Tuesday night drawing class is not the only thing going on.

While Leah (our Leader) does all the dirty work, we have fun shoveling the horse manure as we work on the project to improve the Mabelle park. We have Person Quirque from Montreal working for the summer (How’s life?). But Leah is our newest housewife, having recently bought a home with … Michael. I saw a science fiction show recently where the bad guy was named Michael, but our Michael is a pretty nice guy and is helping out with many of the projects. Keeping it in the family: Leah’s mom is our Mabelle administrator (Ma) and go-to person for order and organization (did I say that Leah is an artist, by background?). Anyway, with all the great help we’re getting, who knows, maybe MABELLEarts and Jumblies CAN take over the world. Now, if I could just get them all to a contra-dance…
